Our Accomplishments (Summer 2024)

In the Summer of 2024, our team was able to travel to India and facilitate the spread of several books. Here is what we were able to complete:

1. We were able to build a library of ~6,000 books consisting of English children's books and Hindi medical books with Gyansanjeevani, NMP Medical Research Institute. Our work consisted of organizing and cataloging books, building shelves, and spreading awareness of our project to several underprivileged communities in Rajasthan. We spread the word of the Gyansanjeevani library through hosting celebrations like the Spark Celebration in Rajasthan and by giving talks to Hindi medium schools nearby. Furthermore, we were able to hire 2 full time librarians and secure funding from the official government of Rajasthan.

   
   

2. We were able to build 2 libraries of ~ 2,000 books with Nanhi Kali, an organization dedicated to bettering the education of the girl child in rural India. The construction and filing of this library is still going on today, and will be completed in the future months.

   
   

3. We were able to establish relations with 4 schools in the Bellevue School District, and are planning a future book drive/ book collection event in collaboration with these schools.
